Here we go!

Ok, well here we go!  You’ve just stumbled upon a project I’ve been working on with 2 of my favorite people, Joel Forlines and Jakey Lutsko.  A few years back I’d had the idea to start a podcast about the local music scene.  It’s always been a shame to me that anytime you bring up the words ‘Chattanooga Music Scene’ you’re met with scoffs and eye rolls, especially by local musicians. Grumblings about how Chattanooga has no music scene and cover bands and get all the good shows are inevitable. It also occurred to me that the most time local musicians were looking up other local acts was when they had conflicting shows.  There had been a few attempts in the past to make a more cohesive ‘scene’, most had fallen flat or run out of steam or more likely, they ran out  of money. A few folks recently have began to take up those mantles again which got Joel and I talking a lot about our respective ‘scenes’ in Chattanooga.  What was good?  What needed improvement?  How is it that people could listen to some of the music around town and still act like we didn’t have a great music scene?   Did they just not know?  Joel and I had been having this discussion weekly out on the porch at Barrelhouse Ballroom when the idea reappeared, let’s have this conversation on a podcast and highlight some upcoming shows!  If this music scene needs promotion, let’s make a vehicle to promote a bunch of shows in town and go for it.  The line was, ‘Somebody’s eventually gonna have to just Eat the Brick and do it’, alas it was born and named on that concrete pad. We decided on a date, showed up and made a podcast together. It was our first try and though it wasn’t very good, Joel and I had a ton of fun doing it. We both knew that something was missing though and I felt that Jakey Lutsko was the missing piece. Jakey’s production skill set and his knowledge of local hip hop and indie scenes made him an immediate asset. We tried again and Jakey made up a KILLER set and shot out of the BHB green room. This is that episode. We have a few bumps in the road audio wise and we are still working on the format but we wanted to go ahead and put out the YouTube version to a few folks just to show y’all what we’ve been up to.  It’s a lot of work but it’s also a lot of fun. We hope folks listen and like it.
